Amazon Launches Next Gen Fire 7 and Fire 7 Kids Tablets With Improved Battery Life
Amazon is upgrading its Fire 7 and Fire 7 Kids tablets, with improved battery life. They haven’t been updated since 2019 apparently. The new tablets have a series of improved features, and for example they have a 30% faster quad core CPU, with 2 GHz clock rate.
They also have double the RAM of the previous generation. The battery has been increased by 40%, meaning that the users will now enjoy up to 10 hours of continuous browsing, or watching videos. The tablets feature a 7 inch display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution (we expected an upgrade here). They also have support for Amazon Alexa for vocal commands, as expected. Both devices will require 5 hours to completely charge, which is a bit of a letdown.
They do come with an USB-C port, probably since Amazon fears the new EU laws. They also have the power adapter int he box. The cameras on both devices is the same as the Fire HD 8 one, it’s a 2 MP camera on the front and back. The camera is able to record HD video and offers good video call quality. Specs are the same for both tablets, but the Fire 7 Kids comes with a kids protective cover and a one year subscription to Amazon Kids+.
The devices are both available on preorder right now, with the Fire 7 priced at $59.99 and the Fire 7 Kids at $109.99.
