When is Huawei’s next event?

Huawei has confirmed via Weibo that it will hold an event on 6 September 2022 for the Mate 50 series. How to watch Huawei’s next event

What to expect from Huawei’s next event

Huawei Mate 50 series

It’s been rumoured we’ll see four models in the Mate 50 series, with the most notable likely being the Mate 50 Pro. It’s claimed that it will launch alongside a regular Mate 50, as well as a more affordable Mate 50E and the ultra premium Porsche Design ‘RS’ version.

The Mate 50 Pro is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, but limited to 4G due to restrictions placed on Huawei. It’s also expected to feature a triple camera system set in a large circle on the back.

This camera system is claimed to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera as well as a telephoto zoom and an ultrawide lens. It’s also been rumoured that it will be powered by Huawei’s own HiSilicon dedicated image processing engine.

Add to that a large 120Hz adaptive refresh rate display on the front, 66W fast wired charging, wireless charging and a 4500mAh battery, and – from a hardware perspective – it’s shaping up to be an impressive device.

The other models are likely going to be revisions of the Pro, with the ‘RS’ being built from ceramic rather than glass, and the regular Mate 50 featuring a slightly lower quality primary camera.

Of course – until Huawei actually announces it – this is all just rumour for now.
