Huawei MatePad T8 Tablet Debuts With Entry Level Specs, $108 Price
Huawei announced 3 new devices today, all of them entry level models: 2 phones and a tablet. It’s the slate we’re more interested in, since it’s priced at just $108. The name is Huawei MatePad T8 and we detail it below.
The naming pattern also shows that Huawei keeps transitioning to the MatePad name, leaving behind MediaPad. The newcomer is a portrait oriented machine with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution on an 8 inch LCD panel. It has the typical chin and forehead (large top and bottom bezels), plus a 2 MP selfie camera and 5 MP main camera. Inside we find a modest octa core MediaTek MT8768 processor, coupled with 2 GB of RAM. There’s also 16 GB of or 32 GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot.
Then there’s a 5100 mAh battery and the OS is Android 10 with EMUI 10.0.1 on top, sans Google Services and Play Store sadly. The product only comes in a single shade (blue) and it should go on sale later this month. The battery life is supposed to be 12 hours of video playback, 12 hours of web page browsing or 600 hours of screen off time. There are 4 modes of eye protection here and I’m willing to bet that the body is made of polycarbonate.
There’s also a special mode called Kids Corner, for little ones, with dedicate apps and games, plus features. I also expect some parental controls.
