Microsoft Surface Go 3 Specs Leaked Via GeekBench; New CPUs confirmed

Microsoft is preparing a big event for October 2021 and aside from the Surface Duo 2, it’s also preparing new Surface Pro, Surface Book and Surface Go models. While the Surface Pro hasn’t quite leaked yet, today we have some details about a new Surface Go. The so called Surface Go 3 has had its specs unveiled.

WinFuture found a bunch of specs for this device in the GeekBench benchmark database. It doesn’t reveal the name of the machine, but the Surface Go 3 association came thanks to the OEMXX label commonly used by Microsoft for Surface products. The device’s processor shows that this Surface is a budget model, so things get clearer. We have two types of processors here actually: an Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y with 4 GB of RAM and an Intel Core i3-10100Y with 8 GB of RAM.

The Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y performs better than the Surface GO 2 and its Pentium Gold 4425Y by 62% in single core runtime tests and also scores 47% higher in the multi core runtime tests. The Core i3 10100Y version doesn’t increase as much in performance. It’s 4% better in the single core test and 11% better in the multi core one. The new device should support Windows 11.

The device is expected to come with a tablet format, with a stand and magnetically docking keyboard, but the source mentions that this is up for debate. Rumors were also talking about an AMD version. Stylus support would be nice, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
