Redmi Pad Launched: First Redmi Tablet Has 10.6 Inch LCD Screen, Helio G99 Processor

Xiaomi held a pretty big event today, during which they unveiled the Redmi Pad, which is the very first Redmi branded tablet. This device is a 10.6 inch unit, with a MediaTek Helio G99 processor. This chip was seen before on a POCO handset.

This is an entry level to midrange tablet, one that adopts a unibody metal design. It also has a 10.6 inch LCD screen with a 2000 x 1200 pixel resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate. The panel has pretty generous bezels and we also get on board quad speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning. The slate uses a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, together with 3, 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage. There’s also an 8 megapixel back camera plus an 8 MP front camera with a 105 degree field of view with FocusFrame, able to track movement during video calls.

Xiaomi also integrated here an 8000 mAh battery which is able to charge at 18W. As far as software is concerned, we’re running on Android 12, with MIUI 13 on top and the promise of 3 years of software update and 2 years of Android updates. Redmi Pad is available in Graphite Grey, Moonlight Silver and Mint Green. The price is about 160 euros, at least in the initial debut country, India. Open sales are already happening on October 5th there.

In Europe it’ll cost a bit more, closer to 300 euros.
