Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad Air 12 Launching on August 6th

Huawei is preparing for a rather important event held in August, when they’ll unveil new tablets, among others. Huawei MatePad Pro and Huawei MatePad Air 2024 are the new models, but their actual names are Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad Air 12.

The company already has a few recently launched Pro models, so we weren’t lacking. The Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 2023 was one such model, with a notch for a dual front camera, that includes a 13 Mp shooter and 8 MP ultrawide cam. There’s also the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 (2024), with a punch hole camera in the corner. The new Pro model has no front facing camera in sight, as it’s hidden in the bezel or maybe even under the screen.

The new Air is also different from the Huawei MatePad Air (2023), in that it comes with a different camera design, with two lenses at the back in lieu of one. In the meantime teasers are here, as Executive Director of Huawei Richard Yu posted the image below on Weibo. It was drawn using a Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 and a stable version of the GoPaint app, which will also be released on August 6th.

Yu promises big improvements and optimizations from the original public beta of the app and extra air gestures. The new MatePad Pro 12.2 has also been rumored to use a Kirin 9010 processor and offer 100W charging. The MatePad Air 12 has 66W charging and a mystery CPU, perhaps also a Kirin.
