Dell, Nokia partnership is an integration ‘easy button’ for CSPs and enterprises

The companies are helping their customers take advantage of the latest technologies like cloud RAN, cloud core and private wireless

Dell Technologies is working with Nokia to help communication service providers (CSPs) and enterprises seize the opportunities presented by the latest technologies like cloud RAN, cloud core and private wireless. At the recent DTW Ignite conference in Copenhagen, Dell Technologies’ Director of Telecom Marketing Sandro Tavares said the partnership has created an “easy button” for these customers, allowing them a more straightforward path towards solution integration.

“It’s about helping CSPs and enterprises navigate the digital transformation… deploy new services [and] about packaging these solutions,” he explained, adding that the collaboration focuses on the basic infrastructure for cloud-native, disaggregated architecture, which, while truly transformative, also adds more complexity.

“We have disaggregated everything,” added Jane Rygaard, Nokia’s head of corporate partnerships, agreeing that this makes for a more challenging network environment. “The solutions that we need to bring going forward …around 5G … not one company can bring it all. We need to make sure that when we put the solutions together, that they work as a full stack,” she said, adding that with this partnership, the companies are putting together a trusted resource to help customers more easily integrate network solutions and components.

Tavares also noted that the partnership has a particular emphasis on private wireless as this technology is the “the connectivity fabric that will make everything work.”

Per the agreement, Nokia will adopt Dell as its preferred infrastructure partner for existing Nokia AirFrame customers. Additionally, the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) private wireless solution will become Dell’s preferred private wireless platform for enterprise customers’ edge use cases. The companies will also integrate Nokia’s NDAC solution with Dell NativeEdge, the edge operations software platform, to provide a comprehensive, scalable solution for enterprises.

“When we form partnerships like this, it is bringing the best of both worlds together,” said Rygaard, adding that customers will benefit from both the communications expertise of Nokia and the cloud infrastructure experience of Dell.
