Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 Tablet Launched: Dual Layer OLED screen and New Digital Painting App

Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 is finally upon us, after a period of teasing. The device has been unveiled with the brand new foldable flip phone Huawei nova Flip. We’re dealing with a premium tablet, with a dual layer OLED display.

The flagship tablet is meant for “professional creators” and it arrives with the latest version of Huawei’s digital painting app. The MatePad Pro 12.2 is very portable, weighing just 508 grams. This means it’s the lightest 12 inch tablet on the market. This thickness is achieved thanks to a 0.5 mm thin aviation grade fiber glass back side. The finishing is a premium and pretty looking “gold silk”.

The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 packs a double layed OLED panel with a 2000 nits brightness and 2.8K resolution. The company promises triple the lifespan here compared to a regular OLED panel and also offers a 33% improvement in power efficiency. There’s also Flash Point Elimination Technology, which reduces flickering and enhances visibility in the brightest conditions.

Other display features include a 144 Hz refresh rate, plus a P3 wide color gamut and 3:2 aspect ratio. Huawei packs a 10.000 mAh battery here, with a very fast charge of 100W. There’s also a new Kirin 9010W processor. At the back we find a 13 megapixel main shooter and a mystery second camera. There’s also an 8 megapixel front facing camera. For entertainment we get 8 speakers, delivering both high and low frequencies.

Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 supports the new Huawei Star Leap Keyboard, featuring a built in charging slot for the M-Pencil stylus. This means that there’s no need for separate charging and also there’s convenient storage. You can also use the device easily with one hand. The device is available in 3 colors: gold, white and black.

The starting price is $600 for the basic 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage version.
